DTLA Oktoberfest

Downtown Los Angeles has never seen an Oktoberfest like the Downtown LA Oktoberfest! The festival began last year in 2016 and saw crowds of 10,000 attendees throughout the weekend.

This particular Oktoberfest isn’t exactly a traditional Oktoberfest as they like to feature local breweries from the area. However, for those of you who want a true Oktoberfest experience, they provide the traditional German Beer from Paulaner, which is the most used beer for Oktoberfest’s across the world.

The beer isn’t the only thing the event offers, you can get an array of food from traditional bratwursts and pretzels to a Thai-Mexican fusion, to cure your foodie cravings. The music is a showcase of local bands like The Tom Nolan Band, other groups and Hazelnuss closing both nights.

Since admission free and open to all ages, you don’t have to come ready to drink. You can simply show up and enjoy the music and atmosphere for free and hang out throughout the night.

RideYellow is the official ride sponsor of the event and they are offering a $15 discount off of your first ride in the app, so you have no excuses to risk driving drunk. You can download the RideYellow app here.

Alpine Village Oktoberfest

The Alpine Village in Torrance is already home to some of the best and most hard to find imported German delicacies, so it is only natural that they also host the oldest Oktoberfest in Los Angeles. Dating back to 1968, the Alpine Village has hosted the Oktoberfest celebration and rightfully earned the label as one of the top ten Oktoberfests in the U.S. by USA Today.

Just like any Oktoberfest, you can get your drink on with traditional German beer and also food pairing, but what makes this Oktoberfest special is that they fly in traditional Oom Pah Pah party bands in from Germany to supply the Bavarian fun.

Tickets for the event are $10 for general admission, $5 for designated drivers and $60 for VIP. Costumes are encouraged, so if you end up going be sure to dress in your best Bavarian attire. If tickets are sold out online, don’t worry, you can always buy tickets at the door for that day.

This Oktoberfest goes until Midnight and is hosted inside of a huge tent in the Alpine Village parking lot. Attendees are encouraged to get a ride to the event because parking is impacted. There is a taxi stand conveniently outside the event to take you wherever you need to go as well. Oktoberfest at the Fairplex

The Fairplex is another great Oktoberfest in the Los Angeles area. The Fairplex is located in Pomona and they have a great event that is fairly cheap.

Just like most Oktoberfests, you will get traditional Bavarian music, authentic German food, and beer. What is great about this Oktoberfest is its location. The Fairplex is huge and just so happens to be the location of the LA County fair, so you know it is going to be a big event.

The entertainment for the nights is an arrangement of tribute bands for Queen, Journey, and the Rolling Stones. At the peak of the night, the traditional German Oom Pag band will come on and transport you into a true Bavarian atmosphere.

Tickets for the event are only $10, but it is encouraged to get a ride to the event because parking is $15 per car.
